The story is set inside Riley’s mind, where five emotions—Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear, and Disgust—help guide her. Joy, voiced by Amy Poehler, wants to keep Riley cheerful and often overlooks Sadness, voiced by Phyllis Smith. When Joy and Sadness accidentally get lost in Riley’s mind, they go on an adventure to find their way back to Headquarters.
