House of the Dragon is an American fantasy drama series created by George R. R. Martin and Ryan Condal for HBO. It is a prequel to Game of Thrones (2011–2019) and the second television series in Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series. Condal and Miguel Sapochnik served as showrunners for the first season.

The series is based in part on Martin’s 2018 book Fire and Blood, and begins approximately 100 years after the Targaryen Conquest and the unification of the Seven Kingdoms, roughly 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, and 172 years before the birth of Daenerys Targaryen. Featuring an ensemble cast, the series depicts the events that led to the fall of House Targaryen, the devastating War of Succession known as the Dance of Dragons.

After losing both his sons, King Jaehaerys I Targaryen calls a Great Council to choose an heir, selecting his eldest grandson, Prince Viserys, over Princess Rhaenys. 9 years later, King Viserys hosts a tournament to celebrate Queen Aemma Arryn’s pregnancy,
despite warnings about the Triarchy threatening Westerosi shipping lanes. Viserys’s brother Daemon faces criticism for his brutality as City Watch commander. Aemma dies in childbirth, their son Baelon doesn’t Survive. Viserys appoints Rhaenyra as heir after learning of Daemon’s insult to Baelon.

If you are a true fan of Game of Thrones, George R.R. Martin is one of the greatest writers not only of humanity but beyond humanity. D.B. Weiss and David Benioff along with created a masterpiece called (GOT) “Game of Thrones” which unfortunately ended after 8 amazing seasons of 73 episodes. GOT was so masterfully conceived and written that it entertained countless millions of viewers from all walks of life,
literally all over the world, for over 8 years and more viewers came back every week. It is the most watched series of all time and after watching House of the Dragon Season 1 Episode 1 {Heir to the Dragon}, I definitely felt that it has the same epic creativity as Game of Thrones, if not more.
